There are four seasons in a year —
There are four seasons within a season.
Four seasons appear in autumn —
Autumn appears in four seasons.
First are the leaves greening —
They were born in the time of spring.
For those with eyes that are keen —
Green appears in all colours.
Second are the musical leaves —
They were born in the time of summer.
They carry the sounds of birds and butterflies —
A song that continues in yellow leaves.
Third are the red leaves of the autumn wind —
On the gust and wings of changes.
Theirs is a dance of letting go —
Don’t hold tight for we are changing!
Fourth are the leaves on the ground —
Brown, frosted and bare.
Winter’s blanket is just a cover —
Hiding the buds of spring.
