Steps of Mindfulness —

Mindful steps on wooden floors, 

Gentle steps on grassy lawns, 

Steady steps on dusty tracks,

Solid steps in market stalls.

Each mindful step nourishes us — 

Tasty morsels of peace and calm. 

Bringing light to these dreary days, 

Bringing joy to our weary ways.  

Aware of our mindful breathing,

Aware of our mindful steps,

Aware of our hearts and lungs,

Aware of thoughts and feelings.

Slowly we make the path of return —

To our home in the present moment.

Not being led to hills far away,

Or lost in a jungle of dark valleys.

This gentle path that we take — 

Is a path of not running away,

Is a path of seeing clearly,

And taking care of our body.

The path of peace is a mindful one —

Not pulled around by strong emotions.

Just observing what is arising —

Within steps of mindful healing.
