Sitting, Flowing and Healing —

Come find yourself a quiet space —

A space and time of less distractions.

Some corner less busy and noisy —

A place you can set yourself down.

A place where the running can calm —

Running of the mind, the heart, the feet.

Just sit on the edge of this mighty river —

Rest your body and observe everything.

This is your seat of slowing down,

This is your seat of clear observing.

This is your seat of awakening,

This is your seat of liberation.

Here is the straight spine of the back,

Here is the cushion of planet Earth.

Here is the breathing of the world,

Here is the place of love and healing.

The past is just the flowing of today,

The future is also the flowing today.

For today is the vast flowing of all things,

In this stream, everyone is also flowing.

“Let it go” says the water rushing by —

You cannot hold anything even if you try.

We are the nature of ever flowing —

It’s a fool’s task to make things stay.

But what is each wave but another wave —

Each drop comes from a million drops.

Each drop becomes a million drops —

Everything is a great flowing away.

But what past waters and what future waters?

For the flowing on is just the flowing on —

Coming and going as a single drop —

Is simply not possible anyway.

So find a comfortable place of sitting —

Slow down and let things drop away.

Observe the great river now flowing —

Resting and healing in this simple way.

Sitting or not sitting — the world flows on,

For there is a quietness behind all things.

What’s important is that we practice calming —

Resting, nourishing,  and healing.

And when we come to our senses —

We will see things that we did not see —

Like beautiful flowers growing nearby —

And plants lacking water and light.

So sit and enjoy some quiet time,

Sit and see your current state of mind.

Sit to realize the wonders in your life,

Sit and heal your body and mind.
