The Great Tree —

The great tree stands solid…

For many it is a place of refuge,

Standing firm with strength and solidity.

Seasons after seasons the tree stands…

And for those nearby, it offers support -

Great arms of loving protection.

It's a cool shade from the hot sun,

It's a place for others to make a home.

But solidity is not a mere passing…

For all things return to Mother Earth.

Its solidity continues in those that it has supported,

For a great tree is generous you see —

Leaving generosity and love as its inheritance,

A solid love that endures the seasons,

And blossoms in many forms,

And in many varieties.
